Hi, I'm Dan · freelance · UK & remote

AI built your prototype. I'll make it real.

You described what you wanted, the AI built something, and it looked brilliant right up until you tried to actually launch it. That is an extremely common place to get stuck, and it is not a failure on your part. I take code generated by AI tools, fix what is wrong with it, make it secure, and get it deployed and running properly on Cloudflare.

Does any of this sound familiar?

> It works on your machine and nowhere else. The preview runs fine, but there is no clear way to get it onto a real domain that other people can visit.

> The login is not really a login. There is a sign-in screen, but anyone who knows the URL can skip straight past it, or every user sees everybody else's data.

> Your API keys are sitting in the browser. Pasted into the frontend where anyone can open developer tools and read them. This is probably the single most common problem I see, and it is the one that costs real money.

> The data disappears. It looked like a database, but it was browser storage or an in-memory array, and everything resets when the page reloads.

> Every fix breaks something else. You ask for one change, the AI rewrites half the file, and now a feature that worked yesterday does not. You are stuck in a loop that gets more expensive each round.

> If you recognise two or more of those, the prototype did its job. It proved the idea. What is left is the unglamorous engineering that turns a demo into something you can put in front of customers.

What I actually do with it

Read it properly

I go through the code and tell you in plain English what it does, what is missing, what is unsafe, and how much of it is worth keeping. You get that assessment before you commit to the work.

Fix the security

Keys and secrets moved out of the browser and onto the server where they belong, real authentication, proper access checks so users only see their own data, and validation on anything a user can send.

Give it a real backend

An actual database that persists, file storage that works, sensible API routes, and error handling so a failure shows a message instead of a blank white screen.

Make it hold up

Mobile layout fixed, loading and empty states added, forms that validate, and the rough edges smoothed off so it feels like a product rather than a demo.

Deploy it on Cloudflare

Live on your own domain using Workers, D1, R2 and KV, with HTTPS, DNS, environment secrets and a deployment pipeline so future updates are a push rather than an ordeal.

Hand it over

Your repository, your Cloudflare account, your domain, documented so you or any other developer can carry on. Nothing is locked to me.

Where I'll be straight with you

> Sometimes the honest answer is that rescuing the generated code costs more than rebuilding it. If the structure is tangled enough that every change risks three new bugs, patching it is throwing money at a foundation that will keep failing.

> When that is the case I will say so, tell you why, and quote you for both options so you can choose. Often the middle path is right: keep the parts that work, such as the layout and the look you already like, and rebuild the data and security layers underneath.

> I am not going to be sniffy about the fact that an AI wrote it. I use these tools daily. They are genuinely good at getting to a working idea quickly, and genuinely weak at the security, data and deployment work that comes after. That gap is the job, and there is nothing embarrassing about needing someone to close it.

What it costs

> This work is quoted per project, because no two AI-generated codebases are in the same state. A prototype that needs keys moved and a deployment set up is a small job. One that needs authentication, a database and a rewritten data layer is a bigger one.

> The process is the same either way: send me what you have, I read it, and I come back within 24 hours with a plain-English assessment and a fixed price. The review costs you nothing and you are under no obligation to proceed.

> If you would rather start from scratch with a straightforward website instead, the fixed-price packages start at £249.

Common questions

All of them. Lovable, Bolt, v0, Replit, Cursor, Windsurf, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT and Claude are the ones I see most often. It does not really matter which produced it, because the gaps tend to be the same: secrets in the frontend, authentication that does not actually protect anything, data that is not really stored, and no deployment path.

Not unless that genuinely is the cheaper option, and if it is I will show you why before you spend anything. Usually a good amount is worth keeping, particularly the interface and the overall shape of the thing. The parts that normally need replacing are the data layer, authentication and anything touching secrets.

Often, yes, though not always seriously. The most common issues are API keys exposed in the browser, missing checks on who is allowed to read or change a record, and no validation on user input. These are not exotic problems, they are just the work that gets skipped when the goal is a working demo. The review tells you exactly what you are dealing with.

Yes. Authentication with proper session handling, a real database such as Cloudflare D1 or PostgreSQL, file storage, and payments through an established provider. These are the pieces AI tools most often stub out or fake, and they are usually the reason a prototype cannot launch.

It is quoted per project after I have read the code, because the range is genuinely wide. Send me the repository or a zip and I will come back within 24 hours with what is wrong, what it takes to fix, and a fixed price. The assessment is free and you can walk away with it.

Yes, entirely, exactly as with every other project I take on. It goes in your repository, deploys to your Cloudflare account and runs on your domain. You can hand it to another developer at any point with no licence and no lock-in.
